Privacy Policy
How we protect your space, your data, and your peace of mind.
Last Updated: June 6, 2026
Blink is designed to be a private, safe, and authentic space for you and your close friends. We believe your daily moments, moods, and conversations belong to you—not advertisers or public feeds. This policy outlines how we handle your data with the care and security it deserves.
1. What We Collect (And Why)
We collect only what is necessary to make Blink work seamlessly for you and your pods:
- Account Basics: Your display name, email address, gender selection, phone number, and profile details to set up your account and keep it secure.
- Daily Blinks: The photos and voice notes you capture. These are shared strictly with the members of the Pods you select.
- Voice Note Transcription: Audio notes shared with friends are processed via secure transcription services to generate text-based versions for accessibility.
- Mood Inputs & Analysis: The daily moods you select. We use secure AI models to analyze these entries to compile your weekly recap (MoodWrap). These models are sandboxed; your data is never shared to train public or third-party AI models.
- Push Notification Tokens: Unique identifiers used to deliver timely updates (such as daily posting prompts and new message alerts) to your device.
2. Privacy by Design
Unlike traditional social networks, privacy is our baseline:
- There are no public search directories, public feeds, or global explorer tabs in Blink.
- Only people you explicitly invite or accept into your Pods can see your daily Blinks.
- We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data or content with third-party advertisers. We don't host ads.
3. Data Retention & Control
Your data is yours. We believe in complete user control:
- Deletion Policy: If you choose to delete a post, a pod, or your entire account, we promptly delete it from active servers; database backups are retained for up to 30 days solely for disaster recovery.
- Offline Queueing: Photo updates utilize local, secure on-device storage until they successfully upload to our servers, ensuring your uploads are safe and private.
4. Sub-processors and Third-Party Services
To operate the application, we work with trusted service providers:
- Hosting & Database: Supabase and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Push Notifications: Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).
- Analytics: Mixpanel (used strictly to monitor app performance and user retention).
5. Cookie Policy
The Blink website and mobile app use only strictly necessary local storage and basic session management tokens for authentication purposes. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
6. Your Rights (GDPR & International Users)
Under GDPR and other privacy laws, you have specific rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to Access & Portability: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Correction: You can update your display name and profile details directly within the app's Profile settings.
- Right to Erasure: You can permanently delete your account and remove your profile details at any time from Settings.
- Data Controller: Blink is the controller of your personal data. Our operations are governed by law as detailed in our Terms of Service.
7. Security & Hosting
We use industry-standard encryption and security infrastructure to protect your data. All media transmissions are encrypted, and access controls are strictly enforced to keep your private moments secure.
